On the run

Liam looks like a super hero speeding over an overturned boat to rescue a maiden from a pirate in our little cove. The surf was choppy, and the wind a-howling; making the rescue all the more precarious.

Island boyz

Liam and Marcus share a laugh with their buddy Jude Hubbs, on Casco Bay.

Strawberry Fields

A warm, cloudy/sunny afternoon, rolling by Maxwell's strawberry fields, in Cape Elizabeth.

Ice Cream

The little devils and their sweet fix. They love Kettle Cove ice cream--and they order the most awful stuff, like bubble gum ice cream with sprinkles. New mural art adorns the cinder blocks this year.

Loving brothers

Number 2 and Numero Uno on Bradbury Mountain. Feel the love!

Bradbury State Park

Liam atop a rock formation in Bradbury "Mountain" State Park. Perfect day excursion with young ones. You can "summit" in about 15 minutes...even with Vivi in arms or underfoot. Nice views, short drive. What a pleasant summer it twas.

Portland?

Yes, Portland. A cathedral's spire and a public housing authority behemoth, contrasting a summer sky. Just an image that I liked from a random day.

Crabby Liam

Liam grasping a perturbed Jonah Crab at our beach. Happily, he still cherishes the hidden treasures of tide pools.

Summertime

Here Jen, my sister Lori, and I, enjoy a bevvy on our friend Rob and Susana's boat...out on Casco Bay.

rockin logo

Here is our fantastic logo--created by our friend, Megan McConagha. She is the best.

buzzing

Here I am at "the local buzz" -- our new coffeehouse/wine bar in Cape Elizabeth. I love the place and the town loves us back. I drink much more espresso now and enjoy chatting regularly with the community. I've been out of the blogging world for a spell, but hope to get back to posting photos and little tidbits.

Vivi's perspective on her Daddy

Vivi is crazy for photography. Little people have such a different angle on the world. Often, I find it more artistic, without any effort.

Vivz on the run

Vivi will kick your butt in a race. Just ask her. Here she sprints across the great lawn at Fort Williams Park after Marcus's Tee ball game.

Marcus out on a Limb

Marcus up a perfect tree. As you can see, I climbed the highest and Marcus had to talk me down.

Fish breath

Hungry for a gullet full of bait fish, here is one of the "rescued" Pelicans at the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary in Redington Shores, Florida.

For the Birds

Liam getting friendly with the locals in Florida. The kids love the bird sanctuary down the beach. Some of the other locals found Liam less than friendly after he urgently sought their assistance to free an "injured fish" from Marcus's fishing pole, out on a fishing pier.

Lowry Park Zoo

Part of my posse at the end of a lovely day at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo. A baby rhino captured our hearts...well, not Vivi's, as her instincts told her to stay far from these prehistoric beasts.

Boca Ciega

Liam meandering the boardwalk in the lush Boca Ciega Millenium Park; a hidden gem in Pinellas County, Florida. Filled with gators, turtles, gopher tortoises, rabbits, blue heron, snowy egret, black racer snake, kingsnake, lizards....all of which we saw (except for the gators) in a two hour span.

Arboristas

Springtime tree climbing on Hannaford Cove Road.

Barefoot season?

Here Vivi pushes the seasonal envelope at our beach. She's a tough one.

Tea Party

Like Sarah Palin, Vivi's favorite new toy is her tea set. She loves to have her Daddy sit down and pour him tea (water) and generally overfills each chalice and then gets a towel because she is a "good cleaner upper".

Liam up top

Liam likes to amble up this huge shrubbery in Two Lights State Park. He calls it "bushing".

Rich's indecision

Here, Rich Lewis, briefly contemplates whether to simply mock T Micheal's last comment about Proust or whether to club him with the almost empty bottle of Pesquera.

PX & T

Patrick, our poet warrior/wine muse on the left -- and T, my boy with the scarf fetish. "I need to protect my voice." Yes, he said that.

T-Bone in Still Life

My buddy T Michael, as seen through stemware goggles. Many a wine bar were visited. Drinking a nice Ribera del Duero here.

Midday Beer

A young local crowd--all standing--enjoying a cana (small beer) at lunch, maybe a cigarette (still popular) and an espresso...

Valencia Rooftops

I really loved the contrasting architectural styles in Valencia. Many centuries of differing styles. We did a superb baroque tour of 4 churches...all of which were built on the site of former mosques, after the Christians sacked the Muslims.

More Valencia at Night

This city is enchanted in the evening. Many folk out heading to a great variety of tapas bars, restaurants. Eating chorizo, jamon (serrano or iberico), mussels, shrimp, cheeses...with a great variety of local Valenciana vinos--or some better ones from the neighboring districts of Yecla (Monastrell) and Jumilla (Garnacha).

U2 pose

Annually, we take a photo that we refer to as our "U2 album cover" photo. This wasn't the planned cover shot, but I think it fits the bill.

Valencia at Night

The annual boys trip took me to Valencia, Spain this year. This is the Plaza de Virgen around 2am. (the restaurants don't open until 9pm). A good portion of the old historical district was a pedestrian zone. Lovely city. My second visit; the first being when I was 5, in the 1971 Franco fascist phase.

Boyz at Ocean's Edge

Marcus and Liam looking out to open ocean on their Prout's Neck hike.

Marcus's Birthday Hike

Here Marcus and Liam enjoy an icefall beneath the cliff path at Prout's Neck. We celebrated Marcus's 6th birthday with a 2 hour exploration of nature's frozen monuments--only cut short by Liam's knee deep plunge into a slushy tidepool.

Liam and the Coatimundi

Liam in heaven = finding a wild animal amidst the ruins of Coba -- and feeding him a digestive cookie. This Coatimundi, native to the Yucatan, has some serious canine teeth, a fact that Liam appreciated and thus, he allowed him a little chewing room.

Futbol Star

Marcus showing his Mexican national team colors. Viva Mexico...Hijos de la Chingada!

Marcus in Cozumel

Here Marcus takes a break from the hot sun in Cozumel, Mexico. He and his brother explored the shallows and depths finding exotic fish, sea urchin, sea worms (one which stung Liam), anemones...and of course, Iguana. This was in a small National Park that showcased snorkeling.

Xaman-Ha

Here Vivi and Liam hack around near the local Xaman-Ha Mayan ruins in Playa del Carmen. This was on New Year's Eve and we were doing a slow walk to town, looking for Iguana, climbing trees and ruins...

Happy New Year

Liam welcomes the New Year with a fine bubbly and a fat Cohiba, sitting on a rooftop deck in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Felice Ano Nuevo!!
