Sorry for the silence

Back to bloggin...We've been busy beavers. We are no longer in South America. Indeed, we are back home. We eased our transition to America by flying to Miami. For Liam and Marcus, we drove the famed "Alligator Alley" and saw hundreds of hungry gators lazing in the sun. Thanks to our dear friends Dana and Scott, we had a lovely place to crash for a few days on Sanibel Island, a real gem of a place. From what I could tell, half of the island is a nature preserve, which is not what you expect from Florida. It also boasted the strangest name for a nature preserve..."Ding Darling". We spotted a few snakes and many lizards (yes, he caught some)...and legions of beautiful water birds (favorite was the roseate spoonbill, of course). We rented bikes and spent many hours beachcombing. Aaah.

From there we flew to Chicago and were greeted by the cold reality of the north. Wind and snow. We had a wonderful reunion with all of Jenny's family...Marlene, Bob, Bill/Valeria & kids, and Marcey/Stu. Marlene and Bob were good enough to have us underfoot for a couple of weeks, while we took care of transitioning tasks. Oh, in case some of you haven't heard...Jenny is pregnant!! Whilst in Chicago, we found out that we will be diversifying our gender pool. A little gal should be joining us in early August. Yippee. We visited our old haunts in Chicago: Lincoln Park Zoo, Field Museum for the "Bodies" exhibit, playgrounds, Lake Michigan, etc.

On March 5th, we shipped our Chicago possessions in a semi and the four of us drove the roughly 1000 miles from Chicago to Cape Elizabeth, Maine, where we are now. Liam is in his second week of kindergarten at the Pond Cove school and we are searching for a home in the greater Portland area. Although the snow is pretty, we look forward to spring...or as they say in Maine: "Mud season."

Now that we have a new computer, I will start posting some photos again! Stay tuned.
