Ecuador Images

We made some friends with an indigenous lady and her three children during a hike outside of Otavalo, Ecuador. The lady was working in the field 4 weeks after having birthed her child. The kids were dirt covered (hers and ours) and scab covered from infected insect bites (hers).

An indigenous lady and her spawn next to the wonderful colorful textiles that fill the famous textile market of Otavalo. The town is filled with Quechua speaking indigenous, the women mostly barefoot and wearing the odd felt fedora. The fact that spanish is their second language actually helps me a bit as the speech is slower and more deliberate.

This huge hunk 'o rock is called the sleeping Lion and lies of the coast of the island of Espanola in the Galapagos. I don't believe even the sea birds find this stony fortress inviting.
